Can I use more than one username in the chat room?
No. Please note that the use of multiple usernames is not permitted nor appreciated. The practice of using multiple personalities is open to abuse and ultimately undermines the level of trust that other users may have in you.
But I want to make a new account because I want to change my username
Then why don't you just ask us to change your username? Contact us explaining what you'd like and why you want to change your username and we'll take care of it.
I've been banned or asked to leave so why can't I just log back in under a different username.
If you've been banned it's for a reason, so to be perfectly honest we don't want you coming back. If this is a problem, we'd recommend getting some therapy. Our aim is to ensure that this chat stays friendly and useable for all. Treat others with respect and honesty and you'll get the same in return.
Help - you guys are telling me that I'm using multiple personalities but I'm not - honest
That's ok - from time to time we might ask you if there is any funny business going on. Often it could be something as innocent as both husband and wife each having their own accounts in the chatroom. That's perfectly fine, but just explain the situation to us if we ask and we'll make a note of it. If we ask you about this and we don't get a response from you then we reserve the right to ban or delete accounts as we may see fit.
What's the big deal anyway?
We want the chat rooms to be a place where everyone can feel comfortable. Our members appreciate anonymity, but they also appreciate knowing a little bit about the people they interact with.
Remember at all times when you are online you are not as annonomous as you may think you are!
As a Chatrooms.Net chat member, you agree to follow our community guidelines and you acknowledge that Chatrooms.Net has the right to enforce them in its sole discretion. This means that if you, or anyone using your account, violate the Guidelines, Chatrooms.Net may take action against your use of our website including chat rooms, forums and any part of the Chatrooms.Net website. This can range from the issuance of a warning about a violation to the termination of your account. You understand Chatrooms.Net is not required to provide notice prior to terminating your account.
Entering a chat session through Chatrooms.Net will constitute acceptance of the terms of use. If you don't agree to abide by these terms of use, please don't enter our chat services.
As in a real community, users of Chat are asked to respect other users. We have set out below the terms of use that will govern your use of Chat and have also included some guidelines we hope you find helpful.
You must observe the chat terms and conditions at all times.
1/ You must be 18 and over to use the adult part of our chat service and it is part of our terms of use that you may NOT enter unless you are 18 years old or over.
2/ We have people chatting from all over the world. Different systems of government and various religions. Please leave the political and religious discussions for elsewhere.
3/ Users must not use Chat to harass, threaten or attack anyone or otherwise behave in any way that would cause annoyance or distress to other users. In particular users must not use Chat for the following purposes:
- To transmit or knowingly receive content and/or language that is in any way unlawful, threatening, and offensive or in breach of any obligations of confidence.
- To provide instructions for illegal or otherwise harmful activities.
- To impersonate another person (whether a friend, family member, celebrity, Chat monitor, Chatrooms.Net employee or OTHER CHAT PARTICIPANT).
- For the purpose of commercial gain. This includes the transmission of advertisements and any other attempts to generate business from other users of Chat.
YOUR Responsibilities
YOU are responsible for the safety of your personal information. We recommend that you do not disclose your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number or other personal information on-line, unless you wish to make your personal profile public, and do so at your own risk. No Chatrooms.Net employees or Chat moderators will ever request such details online.
If you DO choose to disclose personal information online, please be aware that your information may be collected and used by others to send you unsolicited materials and may also be passed to third parties outside Chatrooms.Net.
You may be held legally accountable for what you say or do online. In particular you may be held liable for any defamatory comments, threats and untrue statements or other illegal or fraudulent claims made by you. Your Login name to the service must be in accordance of these terms, and may not include words that are racist or otherwise offensive.
You agree and warrant that you will comply with the terms of any agreement required by the owner or licensor of any intellectual property rights as may exist in all software and information you access or post via Chat and to indemnify Chatrooms.Net against any action or cost suffered or incurred by Chatrooms.Net as a result of a breach by you of this term.
Legalities
Chatrooms.Net does not undertake to monitor every communication or monitor the conduct of every user of the Chat Service. Chat Moderators will be online from time to time in order to help ensure that other users are adhering to the conditions of use.
Parents who are concerned about their children accessing our website should set parental control on their computer browser.
The nature of chat means we cannot monitor all of the conversations all of the time. However, we have set up a system which will provide moderators, who have the ability to come into the chatroom at any time. We strive to be a best practice provider for child safety on chat, and are constantly refining our plans to improve the chat environment. A moderator may sometimes enter a room, deal with an issue and leave straight away.
Chatrooms.Net may link you to other third-party web sites maintained by others on the Internet. These links are provided solely as a convenience to you and not as an endorsement by Chatrooms.Net of the contents of any of those third-party web sites. Chatrooms.Net cannot take responsibility for information found on third-party web sites outside its control. If you decide to access linked third-party web sites, you do so at your own risk. Membership and Registration. You consent that we may use a user's email address to send news, updates, information and or advertising regarding our site, the user may choose not to receive email of this type by contacting us. Once Chatrooms.Net has received an unsubscribe request we reserve the right to delete your membership/subscription to one or more of our services.
