Facebook for Android 1.5 Gets Facebook Chat and Push Notifications

Facebook for Android has been updated with v1.5 bringing support for Facebook Chat and push notifications.

Facebook Chat should work across all Android devices the app will run on, and supports background chat so that you can continue using other apps while holding a Facebook conversation.

This is certainly a welcome addition to the Android application, as the lack of these features have been a gripe of many Android users for a long time. These are the two most anticipated features, and now we can finally utilize them on our Android devices. Other than that the update doesn’t include much, but at least the Facebook application for Android is catching up to its iOS counterpart.

There are also various bugfixes and other tweaks, but this does at least bring the mobile Facebook experience on Android a little closer to the generally more polished iPhone equivalent.

One omission is that friends aren't grouped as they are on the web version of facebook. This means you can't "turn yourself off" for certain groups of friends. You're either all on, or all off.
