Video Chat Between iPhone And AndroidBy ChatRooms.NET - 2011-04-27 Skype's new Qik Video Connect app for iPhone lets owners video chat with Android users, expanding the ability to integrate live video with social media. The company says it has the only app that can do this so far. And you get the added bonus of making calls over 3G or wifi. Users can also post live video links to Facebook and Twitter, where viewers can tune into their video stream. This tighter integration with social media follows a general trend in mobile apps at the moment. A free version of the app is waiting approval from the Apple iTunes Store. A "plus" version costs $3 and adds seven real-time video effects and filters. FaceTime doesn't even come close anymore since it's limited to iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, and will only work if you have a wifi connection. Fring also works between iphone and android as well, i use it with two of my android buddies and it seems to work fine. But Qik has the advantage of being pre-installed on the HTC Evo 4G, T-Mobile MyTouch 4G, Samsung Epic 4G and Galaxy Tab. It's also available for the Motorola's Atrix 4G. Unlike FaceTime, Qik's live video chat, like Skype's, operates between iPhones over 3G as well as on Wi-Fi. The app is free in the Android Market and Apple App Store.
