Oprah Winfrey to Quit Her TV Chat ShowBy Chatrooms.NET - 2009-11-21 US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey has announced that her long-running TV show will end in September 2011. Oprah Winfrey broke down in tears on television yesterday as she told why she is quitting her long-running daytime talk show. The program airs in 145 countries worldwide and watched by an estimated 42 million viewers a week in the U.S. alone. Once a local Chicago morning programme, the Oprah Winfrey Show evolved into American television's top-rated talk show for more than two decades. In a speech to a live studio audience, Ms Winfrey said that "after much prayer and careful thought" season 25 was to be the last one. "This show has been my life, and I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye," she said, her voice choking with emotion. The 55-year-old, who has amassed an estimated £1.6 billion fortune, said she only reached her decision ‘after much prayer and months of careful thought’. Winfrey, 55, is widely expected to start up a new talkshow on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, a much-delayed joint venture with Discovery Communications Inc. that is expected to debut in 2011. OWN is to replace the Discovery Health Channel and will debut in some 74 million homes. An OWN spokeswoman declined comment Thursday.
