Facebook Chat Scam Sending Out Fake Chat MessagesBy Chatrooms.NET - 2009-12-05 Be aware that the most recent scam spreading on Facebook involves the use of hijacked member accounts for sending out FaceBook chat messages with links to the standard Facebook phishing page. Hackers and spammers have been using relatively similar tactics over the past few months to compromise Facebook user accounts. This form of phishing scam utilizes automated robots to perform these tasks on a large level. When the user clicks the link, they are sent to a fake Facebook login page and then redirected back to the actual Facebook after their email and password has been stolen. Once your account has been compromised, hackers use it to perpetuate the scam by spamming your friends in chat. The fake website will automatically log in with the members account and spam all the people on their friends list via Facebook chat. A common type of Facebook chat message being received is similiar to: “ROFL this you?! http://3.ly/gZQ”. Facebook is known for pursuing phishers, scammers, and hackers as once in a while security vulnerabilities appear on the Facebook site. Be sure to never click on any questionable links sent by your friends via Facebook chat, as there is no telling how many Facebook members have had their accounts compromised in this latest attack.
