How to Add Facebook Chat to Pidgin

Open your Pidgin program, and click Manage Accounts - Add

Select XMPP from the Protocol list

Next enter your Facebook username

Enter chat.facebook.com for the Domain

Enter your Facebook password.

Click the Advanced tab, and uncheck “Require SSL/TLS” - Connect port is 5222

Click Add, and your Facebook account should now be added to Pidgin.

Facebook will now be shown in your list of accounts, and Facebook friends will show in your Buddy list.
