Google Gmail Chat and Android Phones

By Chatrooms.NET - 2009-11-19

Google, as part of the Gmail labs experiments, have just announced a new feature on their Gmail Blog called “Green Robot.”

Green robot will allow you to see which of your online Gmail chat contacts are using Android Phones.

Green Robot will basically substitute the green, red, and yellow bubble icons next to each contact with a new tiny Android robot when that contact is using his Android phone.

“These icons can help you decide whether to tailor your conversation to the type of device that your chat buddy is using. For example, when you know the guy on the other end is using his Android phone, you may decide to send shorter, more concise chat messages.”

What about BlackBerry, Palm Pre, and iPhone users?

Anyway, if you are really interested in trying out the new feature, just log into your Gmail account, go to settings, then labs, and from there enable “Green Robot.”
